Before creating a course record, check the UW Libraries Catalog to make sure that there isn't already a record for this class. If there is, make sure that you have found the right section. You can update the course record if necessary using the Update a Course Record function.

| COURSE: | Type the course abbreviation with a space between the department and course number (e.g. NCLIN 411). If there is a section listed, do not include a space before the section letter (e.g. NCLIN 411b). |
| COURSE NOTE: | Type the appropriate quarter (e.g. SPRING QUARTER 2001) |
| Insert another course field | using I>Insert a field and R (course note) as the tag of the field |
| Insert additional instructors as necessary | using I>Insert a field and P (Prof/TA) as the tag of the field then entering the name of the next instructor |
| Insert additional course notes as necessary | using I>Insert a field and N (Course Note) as the tag of the field. If you know that there is going to be a delay in processing the material, you can write a note saying the date the request was received and the anticipated date the material will become available. |
| Select Q>Quit and A>Add Record | to exit to the main Course Reserves menu |
